Pauline Louise (Smith) Shank, 86, died on Tuesday, April 12, 2011, at the Golden Living Center in Hagerstown.

Born on Nov. 25, 1924, in Foxville, Md., she was the daughter of the late Roy Braden and Rosa Irene (Lewis) Smith.

Pauline worked for 17 years at the Waynesboro Knitting Mill and previously had been employed with Fahrney-Keedy Home & Village in Boonsboro.

She is survived by three daughters, Rosie M. Wiggins of Goldsboro, N.C., Judy D. Betts of Funkstown, Md., and Kay E. Shank of Clear Spring, Md.; three sisters, Lorraine E. Bakner of Quincy, Pa., Betty J. Warner of Hagerstown, and Marjorie A. Mullenix of Chambersburg, Pa.; and one brother, Calvin D. Smith of Asheville, N.C. She is also survived by six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Pauline was preceded in death by her son, Russell Edward Shank Jr., and four brothers, Kenneth L. Smith, Roy Braden Smith Jr., Verdean C. Smith and Franklin D. Smith.

Services will be held privately.
