HCC blasts Garrett in softball doubleheader

Damara McDonough tossed a three-hitter with eight strikeouts in a game shortened to five innings to lead Hagerstown in a shutout of Garrett in the opener of a doubleheader sweep.

Mallory Wishard had two hits, including a triple, Meghan Sharrah had three hits and Katie Kesecker had two doubles.

In the nightcap, Wishard had a triple and two doubles and Brittany Heller had two hits, including a double, for the Hawks (6-7, 5-3).

Hagerstown combined for 29 hits on the day.

Nick Stubbs had three hits, including a double and a game-tying home run in the seventh and also scored three runs, Phillips had two hits and scored two runs, Luke Toms had two doubles and Kenny Kitchen had two hits for the Rebels (3-0, 2-0).
