WAYNESBORO, Pa. — St. Andrew’s Church will host a 1.5-mile run Thursday to benefit Waynesboro’s Pregnancy Ministries Inc. in memory of a parishioner killed in a March 17 car accident.

The run will start at 3:30 p.m. at the church and travel past Judy Clement’s house on Vista Drive, organizer Chris Manning said.

Public support has been overwhelming, Manning said. Teenagers from the public schools’ track teams plan to participate, as do members of running club CFAR, she said.

“We just decided to invite everyone. The entire community has really come together in her death. ... It’s touched Waynesboro,” Manning said.

Clement, the mother of nine children, supported the pregnancy resource center, Manning said.

The initiative began with the running club at St. Andrew School. About 75 children participate in the club, which wanted to have a challenge run.

Participants are asked to bring at least $1 to donate to Pregnancy Ministries Inc., which provides counseling to women, as well as items like baby bottles and clothing.

“It’s like a show of support from the student body,” Manning said.
