Kenneth Erner Hofe, 89, of Hagerstown, died Friday, April 8, 2011, at Fahrney Keedy Home in Boonsboro, Md.

Born Sept. 27, 1921, in Lineburg Station, W.Va., he was the son of the late Charles Franklin and Ada Louise Sipes Hofe.

In 2004, he was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Marie Elizabeth Shaw Hofe.

He was employed by the Western Maryland Railroad and Fairchild Industries, where he retired in 1983 after 43 years of service.

He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Hagerstown, Md.; the Ali Ghan Shrine and Cumberland Consistory in Cumberland, Md.; and Brunswick Masonic Lodge A.F. & A.M. 191 in Brunswick, Md.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Michael E. and Melinda J. Hofe, and two grandchildren, Natalie A. and Paul F. Hofe, of Rohrersville, Md.; and five sisters, Violet K. Grove, Lorraine L. Carter, Genevieve C. Houpt and Mary L. Hess, all of Hagerstown, and Ruth K. Moore of St. Thomas, Pa.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Lula L. Hofe and Alene E. May, and three brothers, Levi C. Hofe, Charles F. Hofe Jr. and Clyde L. Hofe.

Services will be Monday, April 11, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown MD 21742, with the Rev. Clark D. Carr officiating.

Family will receive friends Sunday, April 10, 2011, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home, with a Masonic memorial service at 7:30 p.m. by the Brunswick Masonic Lodge A.F. & A.M. 191.

Interment will follow at Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.
