Mental health first aid training set for May

April 08, 2011

Mental health first aid training will be held from 8:45 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, and Thursday, May 12, at Brook Lane's community room, 13218 Brook Lane Drive, Hagerstown. Those who register must attend both sessions.

This 12-hour course, provided by the Mental Health Association of Frederick County, teaches people how to give first aid to people in mental health crisis situations or in the early stages of mental health problems.

Participants learn the signs and symptoms of the most common mental health problems, where and when to get help, and what type of help has been shown to be effective.

The training is sponsored by Brook Lane and the Washington County Mental Health Authority.

Cost is $30 per attendee, which includes training materials, lunch and snacks.

Spaces are limited. To RSVP, contact Brooke Kerbs at 301-739-2490, ext. 12, or brookek@wcmha.org.
