Catherine Margaret "Kay" Baker, 89, of Williamsport, Md., passed away on Thursday, April 7, 2011, at Homewood Health Care Center in Williamsport.
Kay Baker was born in Chicago, Ill., on April 12, 1921, and grew up in Detroit, Mich.
She married Harrison Baker on March 1, 1943. She accompanied her husband throughout his career and lived in many states, including Alaska, and in other countries, such as the Philippines and Bolivia in South America. Kay was a devoted wife and mother. She was active in politics while living in Alaska, enjoyed performing in community theaters and was an avid golfer.
The Bakers retired in Prescott, Ariz., in 1977. There, Kay enjoyed many years being a docent at the Shallot Hall Museum. In 2003, they moved to Homewood Retirement Community in Williamsport.
Surviving with her husband are four sons, Paul and his wife, Kaleen, of Winchester, Va., Alan and his wife, Diane, of Portland, Ore., Craig and his wife, Susan, of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Kurt and his wife, Kim, of Portland; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Homewood Retirement Community Chapel on Saturday, April 9, 2011, at 2:30 p.m. Pastor Jeff Shull will officiate.
There will be no viewing.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to a favorite charity.
