Funkstown mayor tells County Commissioners highway-user funds badly needed

April 06, 2011

Funkstown Mayor Paul N. Crampton Jr. welcomed the Washington County Board of Commissioners to Funkstown Town Hall Tuesday night — then asked them to help push for state funding for road improvements.

"I appreciate you coming over, and I know the budgets are tight," Crampton said.

He thanked the county for help with projects such as parks.

"With that being said, we really need to try to get back highway-user funds," not just for Funkstown, but for all the towns, Crampton said.

Crampton said last month that the town hasn't been able to do routine street paving for at least two years, because the state cut highway-user revenues.
