Wednesday traffic update: I-70 repair work done

  • One lane of westbound Interstate 70 was closed Wednesday as crews repaved a section of the highway near the Black Rock Road bridge southeast of Hagerstown.

Traffic updates from Herald-Mail mobile reporter Caleb Calhoun:

1:49 p.m.: Traffic on westbound I-70 by the Smithsburg and Boonsboro exit is flowing again after the right lane was reopened.

1:17 p.m.: Traffic is backed up on westbound Interstate 70 southeast of Hagerstown. One lane is blocked off to repair pavement on the bridge over Black Rock Road. The bridge is approximately a mile east of the Smithsburg and Boonsboro exit (Exit 35) and traffic is backed up about two miles. The State Highway Administration says it expects to reopen the lanein approximately 15 minutes.

12:40 p.m.: East Baltimore Street in Hagerstown is now open between King Street and Mulberry Street. The new gas main is still being worked on.

9:51 a.m.: East Baltimore Street in Hagerstown is still being worked on because of the new gas main that was recently installed. The street is now closed off between King Street and South Mulberry Street.


8:36 a.m.: The Washington County Sheriff's Department is reporting that a vehicle struck a parked car on West Washington Street in Hagerstown. There is no report of injuries.

6:43 a.m.: Traffic is clear right now on all major highways in the region.
