TOPS 0077

TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) Chapter 0077 was well-represented at the annual TOPS State Recognition Days convention in Annapolis.

TOPS member Barb T. was cheered for having constructed a model-size entry for the roulette-wheel contest at the convention, which took a third-place contest win.  Barb also contributed a convention program-cover design entry and she wrote the skit that was performed at the convention.

Honors for the chapter included a fourth-place overall weight-loss win to chapter leader Donna Blackowitz. The chapter also won the convention’s Gold Star trophy for the third time, based on successful participation in a variety of activities through the year.

SRD weight-division winners included Lu Marletta and Kathy Renner. Members who graduated from TOPS to KOPS (from Taking Off to Keeping Off) included Marletta, Joan Gilbert, Dottie Zimmerman and Renner.

The chapter meets Mondays at 9:30 a.m. at First Christian Church, 1345 Potomac Ave. in Hagerstown. Weigh-in is at 7 a.m. For more information, call Donna at 240-239-0486 or Patsy at 301-582-2292.

TOPS 0446

TOPS Chapter 0446 had a busy meeting on March 30.

First, several who attended State Recognition Days the previous weekend shared memories and inspiration gleaned from the event.

Next, several chapter members presented a short skit — their payback for our chapter’s having won a challenge between two chapters. Finally, Cynthia presided at the installation of the chapter officers: Mary, leader; Marie, co-leader; Joyce C., secretary; Elise, treasurer; and Judy H., weight recorder.

C.K., who lost 3.4 pounds, was the thinner winner for the second consecutive week. Runner-up was Jean C. with a loss of 3.2 pounds.

Meetings are held Wednesdays from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Shiloh United Methodist Church, 19731 Shiloh Church Road, Hagerstown. Weigh-in is from 8:45 to 9:20 a.m.

For more information, call Mary or Tom at 301-797-2547, or Judy at 301-739-9279.
