Farmer donates winnings to Leitersburg fire company

Cletus and Janice Frey of Smithsburg have been selected as a winner in the America’s Farmers Grow Communities program, which gave farmers the opportunity to win $2,500 for their favorite local nonprofit organizations.

The Monsanto Fund sponsors the program, and winning farmers designate a local nonprofit organization to benefit from the donations.

The Freys designated the Leitersburg Volunteer Fire Co. to receive the donation.  

The $2,500 donation was awarded at a ceremony March 21 at the Leitersburg Activity Center.
