Marine Corps Sgt. Ronald S. Mumma was recently named Motor Transportation Association Maintenance NCO of the Year. The award is given to the most outstanding individual in the Marine Corps Motor Transportation maintenance field. He is currently deployed to Afghanistan with 8th Engineer Support Battalion, where he is serving his second combat tour.

Mumma graduated from Williamsport High School in 2005. He is married to Marah Drooger-Mumma of Waynesboro, Pa. They have a 1-year- old son, Kolton. They are stationed at Camp Lejeune, N.C.


Army National Guard Pvt. Andrew J. Likely, son of Tom and Kelly Likely of Hagerstown, graduated from the Infantryman One Station Unit Training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga. The training consists of Basic Infantry Training and Advanced Individual Training.

Likely graduated in 2009 from Williamsport High School.


Army Reserve Spec. Kristin M. Chapman, daughter of Mark Chapman of Marriottsville, Md., and granddaughter of Yvonne Geary of Hagerstown, graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.
Chapman graduated in 2003 from Liberty High School in Eldersburg, Md., and received a bachelor’s degree in 2007 from Cedar Crest College, Allentown, Pa.
