Red Cross to consolidate Franklin, Cumberland county chapters

March 31, 2011

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — The American Red Cross announced Monday plans to consolidate the chapters for Franklin and Cumberland counties.

The chapters are consolidating effective Friday, the news release stated.

The consolidated organization will be led by Executive Director Thomas Reardon, who has served as Franklin County Chapter’s executive director since 2007 and as acting director of Cumberland County Chapter since last summer. The boards of directors will combine.

“While transitions are never easy and have an impact on the volunteers and staff, consolidating and sharing the resources of the two chapters in order to direct our resources into community-based services will bring benefits to the communities we serve,” Reardon said in the news release.

The two chapters provided care to 67 families who were displaced from their homes in 2010, the news release stated. They also assisted 262 members of the armed forces and their families and trained 5,987 in preparedness, health and safety programs.
