Baltimore St. roadwork affecting traffic

March 30, 2011

HAGERSTOWN — Traffic has been slow on Baltimore Street near its intersection with South Locust Street all week due to roadwork.

Cones have been set up to designate traffic lanes.

The roadwork is related to the installation of a new Columbia Gas main on Baltimore Street late last year.

Bob Bond of Henson & Son Inc., the company contracted for the construction, said that crews have been working there since December.

“We put all new sidewalks in, then we had to come back and do the streets,” he said. “We’re out here now because in January it was too cold to put in new blacktop.”

The roadwork on Baltimore Street is expected to be finished within two weeks.

However,  Bond said crews will be moving to other parts of Hagerstown to do similar work.
