Virginia Myrtle (Monninger) Funk, 89, of Williamsport, Md., died Thursday, March 24, 2011, at Julia Manor Health Care Center, Hagerstown.

She was the wife of the late Clarence L. Funk. She was survived by her special companion, Walter Wolfe of Williamsport.

Born March 17, 1922, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Myrtle (House) Monninger Sr.

Virginia was survived by one daughter, Scherry A. Sellers and husband, Ralph, of Hagerstown; one brother, Harry Monninger Jr. of Hagerstown; two grandchildren, Kim Cook and husband, Bill, and Kris Burgan and husband, Steve, all of Hagerstown; three great-grandchildren, Sarah Burgan, Kara Burgan and Matt Cook; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Elizabeth Monninger.

Virginia was an EEG specialist at Washington County Hospital and a hostess at American Legion Post 202 in Williamsport. She was a member of the Improved Order of Red Men Tribe 84, Williamsport; Zion Reformed United Church of Christ, Hagerstown; and Calvary Temple Church, Williamsport.

The memorial service will be Saturday April 2, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Kevin S. Munroe will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
