Volunteers sought to clean up McCoys Ferry Campground

March 29, 2011

On Saturday, April 16, the C&O Canal Trust will hold Canal Pride Days at McCoys Ferry Campground near Clear Spring.

Volunteers are needed for the event, which will include renovating the campsites, entrance and surrounding areas; painting tables, benches, posts and grills; removal of vegetation; pothole filling; replacing fire rings and grills; removing graffiti; spreading stone dust; and trash pickup.

Registration is at 8:30 a.m. and work starts at 9 a.m.

Volunteers are asked to register online at www.canaltrust.org (click on “Canal Pride Days”) so organizers can provide T-shirts and refreshments for everyone.

The purpose of Canal Pride Days is to prepare for the peak visitor season by tackling the backlog of conservation and maintenance projects at sites in need.
