March 28, 2011

HAGERSTOWN — Washington County Child Protective Services has been called to investigate an incident in which a 2-year-old girl was burned Saturday afternoon at the Dagmar Hotel in Hagerstown, Police Chief Arthur Smith said.

Smith said Monday morning that an initial investigation showed the girl was burned by accident when she stuck her hand in hot food, but child services was called as a precaution.

“On something like that, you have to be careful,” Smith said.

He said the child’s name wouldn’t be released until the investigation is completed.

The girl was taken to Meritus Medical Center near Hagerstown to be treated, authorities said.
