Susquehanna to match donations to Japanese recovery efforts

March 28, 2011

LITITZ, Pa. — Susquehanna Bancshares, parent company of Susquehanna Bank, will match employee donations to four relief organizations that are working on recovery efforts in Japan: Save the Children, American Red Cross, World Vision and the International Medical Corps.

Susquehanna selected the four charities for its Japan-relief campaign based on their reputation for providing immediate and long-term disaster relief, current efforts in response to the Japan earthquake and Pacific tsunami, and responsible stewardship of donated dollars. The company also felt it was important to include charities that addressed immediate needs, as well as long-term needs that will come as part of the rebuilding process.

Susquehanna’s Japan-relief campaign runs until Thursday. At the end of the campaign, Susquehanna will make a corporate contribution that will match employee contributions to each charity dollar for dollar.

The company’s most recent disaster-relief match campaign raised more that $40,000 for the victims of the Haiti earthquake in 2010.
