Entries sought for fundraising Parade

March 25, 2011

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — Chambersburg's Council for the Arts announced its annual Parade, a fundraiser for which crafters and artists decorate a piece of furniture to be displayed and then auctioned off.

In past years, artists have decorated tables and rocking chairs. This year, the furniture item all artists will use is a bar stool.

Artists must submit proposals showing how they would decorate a bar stool for this year's Parade. The deadline for submitting designs is Friday, April 15. Artists are invited to design their bar stool with no material restrictions. Creativity is encouraged.Stools must be family friendly and appropriate for public display.

Participants whose designs are accepted will receive their bar stool June 1 to 3. The stool must be completed and returned to the Council by July 8.

Decorated bar stools will be displayed in downtown businesses July 15 through Aug. 19. A silent auction will take place at Council for the Arts, 159 S. Main St., during the display. The auction will conclude at The Capitol Theatre's Wine Festival on Aug. 27.

The minimum silent auction bid for the bar stools will be $60, and artists will receive half the final bid price — at least $35 —and the artist whose stool receiving the highest bid will receive 100 percent of the proceeds.
