Commissioners to meet and greet at the mall

The Washington County Commissioners will be hosting a Meet and Greet session Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Food Court at Valley Mall. Get the opportunity to have a one-on-one with Washington County elected officials.

Special days at Hickory

A special Dads and Donuts Day is planned at Hickory Elementary this week. Fathers of students who attend Hickory Elementary School are invited to the event Friday at 8 a.m.

Next week, students should get ready to say cheese! Picture Day is planned for Hickory Elementary students on Wednesday.

Bunny to hop into mall

The Easter Bunny will make his appearance at Valley Mall next Wednesday. Get a chance to visit the furry, floppy-eared friend in his spring garden at Center Court. Those who visit the Easter Bunny will receive a free coloring and activity book while supplies last.

The Easter Bunny will be available for pictures and to visit Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m. through Thursday, April 14.

Character Counts! awards given out

Each month, a student from each classroom at Hickory is selected as a Character Counts! Good Citizen of the Month for displaying one of the six pillars of character.

The following is a list of students at Hickory Elementary School who received special recognition in the month of February for demonstrating outstanding character in the area of trustworthiness:


Carlos Amaya, Lumisa Bista, Quaid Boward, Jymeisha Castle, Jadyn Cooley, Bryan Detrow, Sydney Gardner, Kibrom Gebreysus, Jonte Jackson, Rhyan Kifer, Lucy Kotler, Jakob Lane, Graydon Munn, Yadira Parada, Cecil Smith and Kara Urban.

Basket Bingo to be held

The Shirley B. Robison Memorial Fund Basket Bingo will be held Sunday, April 3, at the Williamsport Fire Hall.

Tickets are $25 for one or $40 for two. Doors will open at 11 a.m. and lunch will be served at noon, with basket bingo to follow at 1 p.m.

Easter eggs for sale

It’s Easter egg time again at St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church. The church fundraiser committee is making creamy peanut butter eggs and coconut eggs.

They are 75 cents each — the same price for the same size as last year.

Orders will be taken until Sunday by calling 301-739-7431. Please leave your name and phone number along with your order. You will be called when your order is ready for pickup.

St. Andrew’s UMC is on Maryland Avenue across from South End Shopping Center and behind South Hagerstown High School.
