Eastern Correctional Institution

TOWSON, Md. — Eastern Correctional Institution (ECI) teacher Diane King was honored recently as WMDT's (Channel 47's) Teacher Who Makes A Difference for January 2011.

The station surprised her recently in class with flowers and a plaque. ECI inmates nominated King for the honor, with more than 20 people signing a nomination letter they sent to the station. In the letter, inmates said, "Without her, most men here would likely falter, but she keeps us going and gives us goals to shoot for and finally obtain."

King started teaching at ECI, in Westover, Md., in 2007. She received her bachelor of science degree from Salisbury State University and earned her master's degree at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Va.

Correctional education teachers are Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation employees.


F&M Trust

GREENCASTLE, Pa. — Teresa "Terrie" Gracie joined F&M Trust as financial services officer and community office manager for the bank's Greencastle community office.

Gracie brings nearly 25 years of banking experience to F&M Trust. She began her career at Sharon Savings Bank in the Philadelphia suburbs before joining Susquehanna Bank in the McHenry, Md., branch, where she moved from teller to head teller to assistant branch manager and then to manager of the branch. Most recently, Gracie was assistant vice president and retail sales manager — area specialist at First Citizens Bank in Georgetown, S.C.

She will be responsible for consumer and mortgage lending, business development, deposit services and serving customers' financial needs.  

Gracie has an associate degree in business administration from Carroll Community College, Westminster, Md. She has completed a variety of banking and financial services courses through the American Institute of Banking.

A Baltimore-area native, Gracie lives in Orrtanna, Pa. She was previously active as a volunteer for the Chamber of Commerce, and presented financial literacy information at local high schools and housing coalitions. While she is currently involved as F&M Trust's contact person for Relay for Life, Gracie expects to be involved in other community organizations and committees in the coming months.



Prudential Financial Inc.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — Prudential Financial Inc. announced that Gary Guell, a financial planner with Prudential Insurance Co. of America's Greater Mid-Atlantic Agency  at 134 1/2 S. Queen St. in Martinsburg, qualified for membership in the Million Dollar Round Table, one of the life insurance industry's most prestigious organizations.

MDRT membership is based on excellence in customer sales and service, and only a small percentage of life insurance and financial services professionals qualify for membership each year.

Guell also was named a member of the Prudential Annuities Masters Council.

The program was established in 2007 to recognize the exceptional achievement of top-performing financial professionals in annuity sales and service.

Prudential Annuities is a business unit of Prudential Financial.

Guell is a resident of Martinsburg.



RE/MAX

The Powell Team, consisting of Steven L. Powell, Stephenie Rinehart, Lisa Zeger, Linda Hansen, Steve Souders, Jason Goldberg and Charlotte Ashton, has qualified for the RE/MAX Platinum Club Award for 2010.

Only 4 percent of the RE/MAX network achieved the award.

Shirley J. Bayer, Lynnette R. Potter and Scott M. Thompson qualified for the RE/MAX 100 Percent Club Award for 2010.

Only 17 percent of all RE/MAX affiliates earned that award.

Barbie S. Harshman, Derek L. Heckman, Jeanine K. McVicker and Harry "Terry" Toms qualified for the RE/MAX Executive Club.



Roxbury Correctional Institution

Sgt. Mark Cutter was selected as employee of the month for March at Roxbury Correctional Institution because of the dedication he demonstrates daily.

Cutter has recovered numerous cellphones, homemade weapons and other contraband items. As a field training officer, he is quick to educate new staff on performing proper searches, according to a news release from RCI.

Cutter has been employed by the State of Maryland since 2005.


Fredericktowne Nissan LLC

FREDERICK, Md. — Steve Farley has been named operations manager and partner on the board of directors of Fredericktowne Nissan LLC, doing business as Frederick Nissan.

Farley has been in the franchised automobile business in Frederick for more than 20 years. He is responsible for the day-to-day operations of Frederick Nissan on Grove Road in Frederick.



Waste Management of Greencastle

GREENCASTLE, Pa. — Gerald "Gerry" E. Taylor is retiring at the end of this month after 49 years as a mechanic for Waste Management of Greencastle.

Taylor first went to work as a mechanic in March 1962, at age 20, for Barnhart Trucking in Chambersburg, Pa. In 1991, Waste Management acquired Barnhart Trucking and moved its operations, along with its employees, to Waste Management of Greencastle at 9446 Letzburg Road.  

Over the years, Taylor has had four supervisors, worked with a lot of mechanics and experienced much change with Waste Management.

In those 49 years, Taylor never had a reportable/safety incident.

After leaving Waste Management, he plans to travel as much as possible with his wife of 52 years. Their first stop will be Gatlinburg, Tenn., to enjoy some shows.

Waste Management of Greencastle recognized Taylor for his many years of service with a luncheon, and a getaway to a favorite location for him and his wife.



Edward Jones

Paul Buck recently was recognized for his business-management skills. In addition to being honored, Buck met with other Edward Jones financial advisers to share ideas for increasing office efficiency, improving client service, increasing investment knowledge, and expanding knowledge of retirement planning and estate considerations.
