March 22, 2011

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — A Franklin Fire Co. firefighter recovering from burns at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore was listed in good condition Tuesday afternoon, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Assistant Chief Jason Kuehler was inside a mobile home at 1449 Frank Road in Hamilton Township, Pa., when it “flashed” Saturday, according to information on the fire department’s website.

Another firefighter, Nick Stefany, was treated and released from a hospital. He told a Herald-Mail reporter he is “faring all right.”

“I may have a few procedures ahead of me, but the prognosis looks good,” he wrote in a Facebook message.

According to a fire department news release, Kuehler had his first skin graft surgery Monday.

Stefany was to be evaluated Tuesday at Bayview Medical Center for his injuries.

Firefighter Josh Carratozolla was treated and released from Chambersburg Hospital the day of the fire.
