Westminster Marine killed in Afghanistan

The Department of Defense announced Monday the death of a Marine who was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

Staff Sgt. James M. Malachowski, 25, of Westminster, Md., died Sunday while conducting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan, according to the Department of Defense.

He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C.
