Arline Agnes Rita McCarthy Carroll passed away quite peacefully in the evening of Tuesday, March 15, 2011.

She was born Sept. 11, 1926, in New York, N.Y., to Margaret Costigan McCarthy and Charles John McCarthy.

She was Catholic.

Prior to her marriage she was employed with Bell Telephone of New York, Simplicity Pattern Co. and The Four Rose Co., also of New York. After she married, she was the bookkeeper for her husband's business, Clear Channel Television Service of Damascus, Md.

Arline is survived by her loving son, Stephen Kevin Carroll, of Hagerstown, Md.; her daughter, Margaret Holly Graybill, Holly's husband and Arline's favorite son-in-law, Bradley Graybill, of Clear Spring, Md., and her beloved grandsons, Caleb Charles Graybill, Kyle Robert Graybill and Conrad Lawrence Graybill; three sisters, Margaret Kunz of Hasbrouck Heights, N.J., Theresa Lavoie of Clermont, Fla., and Maureen Morgan of Hasbrouck Heights; nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Lawrence Carroll, whom she married May 20, 1957, and her brothers, Charles and Robert McCarthy.

Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family in the Smithsburg Cemetery. Father George Limmer will officiate.
