Synergy registration under way

The Western Maryland Arts Education Symposium, “Synergy in the Arts, Plug into 21st Century Skills,” will be from 9 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Saturday, May 21, at Barbara Ingram School for the Arts, 7 S. Potomac St., downtown Hagerstown.
The event is geared toward art teachers, classroom teachers and administrators.
Participants will have the opportunity to tour Barbara Ingram School for the Arts.
There will also be performances by Barbara Ingram School for the Arts Students, hands-on sessions in Arts Integration K-12, free resources, a lunch reception with the Washington County Arts Council and a sneak peek at some of the lessons created by teachers and staff at Fountaindale Elementary School for the Arts and Academic Excellence.
Visiting artists and guests include: John Ceschini, director of AEMS Alliance; Maryland Public Television on Thinkfinity, a 21st-century skills tech resource; Victoria Brown, director of the Lucy School; Dr. Kenneth Laws, author of “The Physics of Dance”; Linda Krakaur, George Mason University; Arianna Ross, international story teller; and Meredith Ose, school specialty.
The program costs $35, $25 for Washington County employees, and includes coffee and danishes, morning and afternoon session, on-going arts performances and activities, lunch and free resource session. Registration deadline is Sunday, May 1.
