JEFFERSONVILLE, Pa. — Nancy J. (Harp) Brant, 99, of Jeffersonville, died peacefully March 5, 2011, at the Coatesville (Pa.) VA Medical Center’s hospice.  

She was the wife of the late Charles J. Brant Sr., who preceded her in death in 1975.

Born May 10, 1911, in Chewsville, Md., she was the daughter of the late James H. and Cora M. (Paulsgrove) Harp.

Nancy graduated from Hagerstown High School in 1929 and from the former Women’s Medical College of Philadelphia as an R.N. in 1933. She received additional training at Sheppard Pratt Hospital, Baltimore, Md.
Nancy served her country in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps during World War II as a first lieutenant, stationed in England. She worked at the Norristown (Pa.) State Hospital, at the U.S. Army quartermaster in Philadelphia, and also did private-duty nursing.

She belonged to the Lower Providence Presbyterian Church, Eagleville, Pa., for more than 60 years, and was a loyal member of the Acer Class. Nancy volunteered for many years at the Norristown Public Library. She enjoyed her family, her church, her garden, antiques, the Phillies and, especially, her beloved granddaughters.  

Nancy is survived by her son, Charles J. Brant Jr. of Jeffersonville; her granddaughters, Birute (Brita) Brant and Nancy J. Brant, of Media, Pa.; several nieces; and a nephew.

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Annabel (Beadie) Harp, Ruby Smith and Madelyn Snyder; and by her brother, Henry Harp.

Funeral services were held privately. Arrangements were made by Boyd-Horrox Funeral Home, Norristown.
