March 15, 17, 22, 24, 29, 31 and April 5, 7: Clear Spring Food Bank and Second Time Around Clothing Shop open, St. Peter’s Lutheran Church on Martin Street, 1 to 2 p.m.

March 15: Big Pool Ruritan Club meeting, Big Pool Community Building, 6:30 p.m.

March 16, 23, 30 and April 6: Elementary Library Time, Clear Spring Library, 3:30 p.m.

March 17: Dry Run Homemakers Club, Clear Spring American Legion Activities Building, noon

March 18, 25 and April 1, 8: Toddler Story Time, Clear Spring Library, 11:30 a.m. This event is geared toward ages 2 to 5.

March 18: Spaghetti dinner, Clear Spring High School cafeteria, 5 to 7 p.m., hosted by Clear Spring High School Band Boosters. Dinner costs $6.75 for ages 13 and older; $4.75 for ages 2 to 12; those younger than 2 eat free. Menu includes spaghetti with meat and nonmeat sauces, salad, bread, dessert and beverages.

March 18 and 19: Lion’s Club Minstrel Show, Clear Spring High School auditorium, 7:30 p.m. Tickets cost $5 for adults, $3 for students and are free for those in prekindergarten and younger children. Tickets will be sold at the door and in advance at Clear Spring Hardware.

March 19, 26 and April 2, 9: Bingo at Clear Spring Volunteer Fire Department’s Special Events Building, 12323 Big Spring Road, 6:15 p.m. for early birds; 7 p.m. for regular games.   

March 19: Roast beef dinner, Clear Spring High School cafeteria, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., hosted by Clear Spring Athletic Department. Dinner costs $7.50 for adults, $5 for students and children. Those in prekindergarten and younger eat for free.

March 20, 27 and April 3, 10: Scrabble Mania, Clear Spring Library, 2 p.m. Scrabble and Scrabble Jr. boards available. For more information, call 301-842-2730.

March 20: Soup and sandwich lunch, Clear Spring High School cafeteria, 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Soups include chili, bean, chicken corn and vegetable beef. Sandwiches include ham, steamers and hot dogs. Dessert will also be available. Hosted by the Clear Spring Athletic Department.

March 24: Ward Hill Lamon presentation, Clear Spring Library, 7 p.m. Author Bob O’Connor will speak about a book he edited that was written by Lamon, Abraham Lincoln’s personal bodyguard. Registration required. Call 301-842-2730.

March 27: Sunday Matinee Movie, Clear Spring Library, 1:15 p.m., “Gone with the Wind,” rated G.

April 3: Sunday Matinee Movie, Clear Spring Library, 1:15 p.m., “Escape From Fort Bravo,” not rated.

April 5: Clear Spring District Historical Association, Plumb Grove, 7 p.m.

April 6: Clear Spring Volunteer Fire Department membership meeting. Special Events Building, 12323 Big Spring Road, 7 p.m.  

April 6: Adult Book Discussion Group, Clear Spring Library, 11:15 a.m. This month’s book is John Hart’s suspense thriller “The Last Child.”  

April 6: “When Abraham Lincoln Was a Kid,” Clear Spring Library, 3:30 p.m. Presented by Antietam National Battlefield. Park rangers will lead children in farm and household chores, and teach 19th-century games and recreation in a one-room school environment.

April 7: “Escape Across the Potomac,” Clear Spring Library, 7 p.m. A presentation by author C.W. Whitehair about the evening of Sept. 14, 1862, when federal soldiers fled across the Potomac and the capture of Gen. James Longstreet’s wagon train. Registration required. Call 301-842-2730.

April 10: Sunday Matinee Movie, Clear Spring Library, 1:15 p.m., “Little Women,” not rated.

April 11: Clear Spring town council meeting, Town Hall, 7 p.m.

April 11: Clear Spring Ambulance Club membership meeting, 233 Cumberland St., 7:30 p.m.
