Underwood-Memorial Hospital

WOODBURY, N.J. — Teresa Mondile, daughter of Donald and Jane Violet of Hagerstown, has been honored as the employee of the month for February at Underwood-Memorial Hospital.  

A graduate of Hagerstown Junior College, Mondile joined Underwood's department of radiology 19 years ago. Once she learned of Underwood's plans to establish the Women's Health Center, Mondile pursued her certification for mammography.

She has been the mammography radiographer at the Women's Health Center at Mullica Hill Commons since it opened in October 2009. When Mondile isn't performing mammography screenings, she pursues opportunities to spread the word about the importance of mammography and the services at the Mullica Hill center.

Residing in Deptford Township, N.J., her family life revolves around baseball. She met her husband, Steve, when he played for the Baltimore Orioles. He now runs an inside baseball-coaching center and their sons, Steven, 14, Tyler, 13, and Austin, 7, play baseball.

Underwood-Memorial Hospital is a 305-licensed bed, acute care, nonprofit hospital and is Gloucester County's largest employer, with more than 1,800 full- and part-time employees.

Albright Crumbacker Moul & Itell LLC

Albright Crumbacker Moul & Itell LLC, certified public accountants, announces the promotion of Lisa D. Wenger, CPA, to senior accountant.

Wenger, a Waynesboro, Pa. resident, has been a member of ACM&I's team since June 2000, and while working full time, earned her Bachelor of Science and master's degrees in accounting, and successfully passed the CPA examination to become a certified public accountant in 2009.

ACM&I also welcomes Michelle L. Moore to its team.

Moore, a Hagerstown resident, obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in accounting and business administration in December 2010 and joined the team as a staff accountant in January. She also completed an internship with the firm during the summer of 2010.

Jack Gaughen Realtor Era

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Pa. — Scott Palmer and Todd Crawford with Jack Gaughen Realtor ERA were recognized as agents of the month for January in the Greencastle office.

The award is given based on the number of listings taken, sales made and closed sales, as well as attendance of Realtor functions and continuing-education classes completed.

Palmer was recognized for five years and more in the business category. Crawford was recognized for the five years and less in the business category.

Palmer has been selling real estate for 25 years and is an associate broker. He resides in Greencastle with his wife, Dawn, and their daughter.

Crawford has more than 20 years of business and sales experience. He is licensed to sell all types of real estate in Pennsylvania.

Jack Gaughen Realtor ERA's Waynesboro office is recognizing Paul Gunder and Kim Mills for excellent performance in January based on the number of new listings, sales and referrals, attendance at real estate meetings and workshops, and customer satisfaction reports.

Gunder has been a licensed Realtor since 1979 and holds licenses for Pennsylvania and Maryland. He is among the top 2 percent of NRT's sales professionals, based in gross income. He specializes in residential and developments.

Mills is consistently a top-producing agent in the Waynesboro office, and is licensed in Pennsylvania and Maryland. She has earned designations as accredited buyer representative), Cartus Network affinity specialist and senior's real estate specialist).

Gunder and Mills are members of the multilist services Metropolitan Regional Information System and Realtors Association of York and Adams Counties.

Dr. Rose Wood

Dr. Rose Wood and her staff of eye-care professionals welcome the return of Sandra L. Hess.

Accepting the position of lab manager, her responsibilities will include the on-site customize fabrication of eyeglasses.

Hess and husband, Jim, left the Hagerstown area and relocated in Martinsburg, W.Va.

Hess has had her certification through the American Board of Opticianry since 1994. The ABO certification is the only nationally recognized credentialing for ophthalmic dispensers and is recognized as a measure of professional ability.


LINTHICUM, Md. — At a recent management meeting, SECU announced its annual employees of the year for 2010.

Winners include Kevin Kesecker of Gambrills, Md., (lending), Michelle Taylor of Pasadena, Md., (corporate risk), Silesha Sawyers of Glen Burnie, Md., (Chadwick branch) and Ron Waters of Belcamp, Md. (marketing).

The Hagerstown branch employees were awarded the Community Service Award for being volunteers of the year.

SECU's Hagerstown employees volunteer in many ways throughout the year. In December, they wrapped gifts at Valley Mall for the American Red Cross, adopted a family for the holidays through Social Services, collected food for those less fortunate and donated school supplies to a local school.

Volvo Powertrain North America

Dale Hoover, staff engineer, was named employee of the month for January at Volvo Powertrain North America.

Hoover was nominated for the award by his colleagues, who noted his dedication to finding ways to improve product operation and design. He was also recognized for his support and mentorship of junior department members.

Dick, Stein, Schemel, Wine and Frey LLP

GREENCASTLE, Pa. — Ed Wine, a partner in the law firm of Dick, Stein, Schemel, Wine and Frey LLP, recently served as an expert witness on Pennsylvania law at a court hearing in Barcelona, Spain, involving a business contract dispute.

Wine provided testimony to the court on several issues of Pennsylvania law, which was the controlling law for the contract being litigated. He was the only expert witness providing such testimony to the court.     

Wine practices out of Dick, Stein, Schemel, Wine and Frey's Greencastle office at 119 E. Baltimore St. His practice focuses on business/corporate law, wills, estate planning and settlement, and real estate and land use/zoning law. He also is a licensed Pennsylvania title insurance agent.

He holds a bachelor's degree with a concentration in finance from the University of Virginia and a juris doctorate from The College of William and Mary.     

Fahrney-Keedy Home and Village

Eight people recently received service excellence awards and 19 were honored for their years worked at an employee recognition dinner for Fahrney-Keedy Home and Village in Boonsboro.

The eight honored for their service were Pam Burger, Deb Manahan, Tammy Payne, Mary Moore, Beth Phebus, Airey Smith and Pam Miley, all in nursing; and Nick Hill, information technology.

Employees honored for five years of service were Tina Saunders, LPN; Grace Irungu, LPN; Nadine Christie, GNA; Sue Scalia, GNA; Angel Burris, GNA; Stacy Petersheim, GNA; Pam Miley, GNA; Brittany Smith, GNA; Ann Thomas, GNA; Angie Howard, transportation; Nick Hill, director of information technology; Gary Heishman, maintenance; and Wayne Stouffer, CFO.

Other honorees were Sandy Morgan, CMA, for 10 years of service; Susie Lewis, dietary, 15 years; Wanda McIntyre, CMA, 20 years; Denise Painter, laundry, 30 years; and Ruth Moss, GNA-CMA, 45 years.

Antietam Call Center

Antietam Call Center announces that Sharon Hornbaker was recently honored for having completed 20 years of service as a call center agent with the company.

Hornbaker has managed to successfully negotiate through several location moves, and many upgrades in hardware and software over the past 20 years. She has been a dedicated and loyal employee, and has always shown a willingness to perform the duties of her position with the highest standards.

Hornbaker was honored at a luncheon in her honor and received several gifts to commemorate the occasion, including an all-expense-paid weekend for two in Atlantic City, N.J.

Susquehanna Commercial Finance Inc.

MALVERN, Pa. — Susquehanna Commercial Finance Inc. announces the appointment of Brian Colburn to its business development team. Colburn will lead the development of SCF's franchise-financing product.

Colburn previously worked to develop franchise-finance businesses at Mount Pleasant Capital Corp. as director of business development and at Butler Capital as managing director of its franchise finance division.

Mental Health Association of Frederick County

Mental Health Association of Frederick County, Md., CEO Pat Hanberry and board members Patty Hurwitz and Terry O'Malley, president, recently were presented with Dove Award plaques in recognition of their donations totaling $10,000 to $24,999 at the recent MHA board meeting. All three have made significant pledges to the MHA Making Room for Mental Health capital campaign.

The campaign is providing funds to renovate MHA's recently purchased building at 226 S. Jefferson St. in Frederick, Md. The new facility, once renovated, will be the new home of the Mental Health Association and will provide much-needed space for MHA's more than mental-health and wellness programs that serve more than 41,000 people annually. MHA plans to move into the new building by early 2012. 

The Mental Health Association of Frederick County is a private, nonprofit organization that has served the community for more than 45 years.

Chambersburg Cardinals

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — Colleen Winters is the new regional marketing manager for the Chambersburg Cardinals minor league football team.

Winters brings with her more than 15 years of experience in marketing. She came from The Herald-Mail Co., where she served as digital sales consultant. She will be responsible for securing corporate sponsors, increasing ticket sales and increasing team awareness.
