Cooking demonstration

The Women's Club, at 31 S. Prospect St., will host a cooking demonstration Wednesday, March 16, beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Chef John Walla from the Black Eyed Susan restaurant will prepare dishes for St. Patrick's Day. Door prizes will be available.

Tickets cost $12 per person. Make your reservations by calling the Women's Club at 301-739-0870 between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Senior softball league plans signups, practice

The Washington County Senior Softball League will begin registration and practice on Monday April 4, at the ball fields behind City Park, beginning at 5:30 pm. 

The league is open to all seniors ages 50 and older. Registration costs $30. Practices will be held on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Storytelling event

On Sunday, the Women's Club will celebrate Women's History Month with "Political Awakening and Right to Vote."


The storytelling event, sponsored by the League of Women Voters, will feature a mix of professional storytellers, elected officials and local participation.

Light refreshments will be served. The club is at 31 S. Prospect St. The event will begin at 1 pm.

Tickets are available in advance for $8 or at the door for $12.

Habitat dinner and auction

Habitat for Humanity's 18th annual dinner and auction will be Saturday, April 2, starting at 5 p.m. at Hagerstown Community College's ARCC.

This years event will be featured as "Habitat Celebrates The Age of Aquarius." Organizers are encouraging those who attend to put on tie-die shirts and bell-bottoms to get ready for a flash back to the hippie days, as the event is casual dress.


Tickets cost $45.

The deadline for reservations is March 19.

There will be a buffet dinner, live and silent auctions, raffles, games and other activities.

No tickets will be sold at the door.
