Harry N. Patronik, age 86

Harry Nicholas Patronik, 86, of Knoxville, died peacefully at his home Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2011.

Harry, known as Pat, was born on Feb. 20, 1924. Pat was a devout practicing Roman Catholic and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He joined the U.S. Naval Air Corps at age 18 and was appointed patrol plane commander of a Coronado (PB2Y) at age 20. Pat resigned his commission in 1946 at the rank of lieutenant junior grade.

He retired from Flakt Corp. as a mechanical engineer after more than 30 years of service.

Pat was preceded in death by his son, Jim Patronik; brother, Johnny Patronik; and sister, Olga Oryhon.

He is survived by his wonderful and loving wife of 62 years, Mary Patronik; children, Nick Patronik and wife, Colleen, Jack Patronik and wife ,Toni, Mary Jane Locke and husband, Greg, Richard Patronik, Patricia Long and fiance, Norman Adams, Annette Atchley and husband,  Larry; grandchildren, Nick Patronik, Matt Patronik, Greg Patronik, Anna Lum, Evan Patronik, Michael Patronik, Taylor Locke, Megan Locke, Harrison Patronik, Grant Patronik, Kelsey Atchley and Luke Atchley; great-grandchild, Ava Atchley; and sister, Irene Beck.

The family wishes to send a special thanks to Karen Harrison, Kim Thomas and Amedysis Hospice. A memorial Mass was held Tuesday, Feb. 22 at Sacred Heart Cathedral with Monsignor T. Allen Humbrecht officiating. Interment was at Tennessee Veterans Cemetery with full military honors presented by Volunteer State Veterans Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Ladies of Charity, 1031 N. Central, Knoxville, TN 37917. The family received friends at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel.
