Fisher pitches HCC to win

COLLEGE BASEBALL

COCOA, Fla. — Colby Fisher pitched a three-hitter with three strikeouts and no earned runs to lead Hagerstown Community College in a 14-2 rout of Miami-Middletown in the Cocoa Expo.

Danny Morris had three RBIs and Marcellus Sumlin and Tyler Walsh had two RBIs each for the Hawks (6-3), who were the beneficiaries of 12 walks and two hit batters.

Minnich earns WVIAC honor

PRINCETON, W.Va. — Shepherd junior first baseman/designated hitter Nathan Minnich was named the WVIAC Player of the Week for his outstanding play for the Rams last week.

Minnich, a Waynesboro graduate, batted .467 for the week, going 7-for-15 at the plate with 11 RBIs and seven runs scored. Four of his hits went for extra bases, including three home runs, two of which were grand slams.

Dudek earns WVIAC honor


PRINCETON, W.Va. — Shepherd senior outfielder Amber Dudek was named the WVIAC Player of the Week for her stellar play for the Rams last week.

Dudek helped lead the Rams to a 3-1 week, including a 2-0 mark in conference play. She batted .538, going 7-for-12 with four RBIs. Her two-run homer in the nightcap against Concord lifted Shepherd to a 4-3 win to secure a sweep.

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. — Nicole Ruane scored a game-high seven goals to lead Shepherd in a rout of West Virginia Wesleyan (0-1).

Krista Tippett had six goals, Christina Ferrara had four goals and two assists, Shannon Carta had two goals and two assists, Carly Jones had a game-high six assists and Emily Melanson had four saves for the Rams (4-0).

Shepherd outshot Wesleyan 37-20 had a 31-24 advantage in ground balls and had a 19-12 advantage in draw controls.
