Williamsport Town Council member trails in voting

March 07, 2011

WILLIAMSPORT — — Williamsport Town Council member Tearza D. Knode has apparently lost a re-election bid, and two new faces will be on the council after Monday’s town election, according to Mayor James G. McCleaf II.

Three council seats were up for grabs in Monday’s election.

William G. Green was the highest vote-getter in the election with 93 votes, McCleaf said.

Incumbent council member James Kalbfleisch tallied 82 votes and Maya Haines received 71 votes, McCleaf said.

Knode and Jeffrey A. Redding each received 68 votes, and Nicholas T. Russell had 60 votes, McCleaf said.

Council member Larry Jessop did not seek re-election.

McCleaf said the election results will be unofficial until next Monday when the town council meets during its regular meeting and considers approving the results.
