HCC women eliminated in Region XX tournament

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

NORTH EAST, Md. — Alessandra Flores scored a game-high 27 points, including seven 3-pointers, but it wasn’t enough for Hagerstown Community College in 72-64 loss to Cecil in the NJCAA Region XX Tournament on Friday.

Turquoia Johnson had 10 points, Yolanda Pinkcett had six points and seven rebounds, Tiara Rogers had three assists and Tashia Caldwell had five steals for the Hawks, who finished their season 22-7.

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. — Ryan Harper had a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds to lead No. 2 Southern Fulton past No. 1 Shade in the PIAA District 5-A championship game.

Seth Hall had 12 points and six assists for the Indians (21-4).

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. — Shannon Carta had five goals and three assists to lead Shepherd University past Ferrum (2-1-1).

Nicole Ruane had five goals, Krista Tippett had three goals and two assists and Kaitlin Drake, Maddie Sullivan, Kelsey Eagan, Jenna Benke and Jenny Cavey rounded out the scoring for the Rams (2-0).

Shepherd had 34-18 advantage in shots, a 26-20 edge in ground balls and a 14-12 advantage in draw controls.
