St. Mark's to host pancake supper

St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 18313 Lappans Road, will host a pancake supper for Shrove Tuesday on March 8, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Parish Hall.

Pancakes are a tradition as a dish to use up sugar and fat before the fasting days of Lent.

The cost of the dinner is $5 for adults, $4 for those 60 and older; $2 for those ages 4 to 11 and free for those younger than 3.

Lions to sell sandwiches  

Sharpsburg Lions Club is taking orders for country ham sandwiches until Friday, March 11. To place orders, call 301-469-4674. The sandwiches will be sold Thursday, March 17, and delivered Friday, March 18.   

The club meets the first and third Thursdays of the month at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 209 W. Main St. in Sharpsburg.

Shrove Tuesday   

St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 209 W. Main St., Sharpsburg, will host a Shrove Tuesday pancake supper Tuesday, March 8, from 4 to 6:30 p.m.

A free-will offering is requested, and proceeds will be used for local outreach efforts. Parking is available on Main Street and at the rear of the church.

Bible Church seminar   

George Rundle will present a Bible seminar titled "Discovering a National Treasure — Your Spiritual Gifts" March 6 to 9 at Sharpsburg Bible Church on the corner of Potomac and Antietam streets in Sharpsburg.

Food Pantry

For one day only, Saturday, March 12, the South Washington County Food Pantry will operate from the First Christian Church on St. Paul's Street in Boonsboro from 9 a.m. to noon.

Normally, the food pantry is in the basement of Trinity Lutheran Church in Boonsboro Thursdays from 1 to 3 p.m. and the second and fourth Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon.

Masonic Lodge open house

Antietam Masonic Lodge 167 in Keedysville will hold a car show/ open house Saturday April 2, from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Lodge at 7 S. Main St. in Keedysville.  

The theme, "Apple pie, Chevrolet and Freemasonry — the backbone of America," will be highlighted by Miss Maryland Allyn Rose, who will be available for autographs and photographs.  

Food will also be available, as well as door prizes from NAPA.

The show will feature Chevys from the 1950s to the present, with a strong emphasis on Corvettes.  For more information, go to

Longnecker to hold soccer clinic  

Tristan Longnecker will hold a free goalkeeper/striker clinic Saturday, March 19, at the Hagerstown Soccer Complex,  at 13317 Cearfoss Pike.

 The clinic, open to all goalkeepers and strikers, will be held for U10-U14 from noon to 2 p.m.; and U15-U19 from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.  Contact Tracy at for registration and questions.  Please include the player's name and age in your e-mail.
