Esthetician Carol Blessing decided to name her skin care business “Green Bamboo” because bamboo is like a person’s skin: it’s prolific, it regenerates and it’s flexible, pliable and strong.  In addition, her sister Patricia suggested the name because bamboo grows in the back yard of Carol’s home.  Carol’s sister Barbara does the art work for Carol’s business.

“Family is important to me,” Carol said.  “My brother helped move me from my previous location and he also built the top for my work table,” she said.

Carol’s niece painted a piece of art work on the wall of her treatment room.

“My nephew created the cards I send to clients on their birthdays,” Carol said.

The full name of Carol’s business is “Green Bamboo Quality Skin Care” and Carol believes that clients will be treated to just that -- quality skin care using the finest natural and organic products in a pleasant, tranquil setting in the heart of historic downtown Boonsboro, Maryland.  As Boonsboro's first and premier skin care center, clients will benefit from her vast experience and knowledge, while receiving the best client care possible.

Carol Blessing, owner and licensed esthetician, graduated from Von Lee International School of Aesthetics, the first licensed school in the US devoted exclusively to esthetics and voted "Best Esthetics School in the US" by Aesthetics World Magazine.  She has over nine years experience in facials, waxing, body treatments and lash and brow tinting.

Carol can perform Express Facials for clients that include deep cleansing, exfoliation, mask and hydration.  Custom Facials combine the Express Facials with a relaxing face, neck and shoulder massage.  A soothing steam accompanies the mask.

Carol reveals that facials cleanse and nourish the skin and increase circulation, promoting the penetration of ingredients.  A facial also relieves pain by soothing nerve endings and stimulating activity of the skin glands, removing dead skin cells, and thereby restoring a healthy glow.  Facials soften the skin and help to retard wrinkles.

“Smoking robs the skin of moisture and causes the skin to lose its elasticity,” Carol said.  “The loss of the ozone layer in our atmosphere has allowed more harmful rays from the sun,” she said.  “People should always use sun blocks,” she said, “even in winter.”

The actor and director, Robert Redford, who has spent much of his life outdoors, shows the effect of sun damage on his face.

The product lines that Carol uses at Green Bamboo are available for retail sale.

The M'lis Company has provided natural, simple solutions for all skin types.  Their emphasis is on a natural approach to health, wellness and beauty.

I like organic skin care products treat both the skin and senses. Using handmade pulps that treat, nourish and beautify the skin, you will savor the aromas and see and feel the difference in your skin.

Carol sells Cedar Ridge Soaps, produced by Joni Taylor of Keedysville, who creates naturally gentle skin care products and superb mineral make up, which are Green Bamboo's signature line. Cedar Ridge also makes a soap and shampoo bar exclusively for Green Bamboo using locally grown bamboo.

Green Bamboo Quality Skin Care is located at 27 S. Main St. at The Clock Tower in Boonsboro.  Carol is open daily by appointment only.  Call 304-279-3109 or email
