Church Women United to sponsor prayer event

Williamsport Area Church Women United is sponsoring a World Day of Prayer Service on Friday from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, 10813 Donelson Drive.

The theme is "How Many Loaves Have You?" and is written by the women of the Republic of Chile. A fellowship time will follow. All are welcome.

Bonanza to benefit youth sports teams

A money bonanza will be held Saturday at the Improved Order of Red Men, 16129 Lappans Road, to benefit the Williamsport Bears and Williamsport Ravens youth football teams.

Doors open at 5 p.m. Tickets cost $30, which includes two meals, served at 6.

The menu includes fried chicken, meatballs, mashed potatoes, gravy, corn and cole slaw. No charge for draft beer. Entertainment with disc jockey follows meal.

Last ticket pays $1,000. The event is open to the public. No one younger than 21 will be admitted. For tickets, call Chris Carpenter at 240-367-5018.

WHS Band Boosters to sponsor bingo event

Williamsport Blue Band Boosters will hold a Longaberger and Vera Bradley bingo event Sunday at the Elks Lodge on Robinwood Drive in Hagerstown.

Tickets, which include the meal and 26 games of bingo, cost $25 per person. Refreshments, raffles and tip jars will be available for purchase.

Doors open at 11:30 a.m., dinner, provided by the Elks Lodge will be served at 12:30 p.m. and bingo begins at 1:30.

All proceeds help to support the Williamsport High School Blue Band.

Pancake supper planned

Zion Lutheran Church, 35 W. Potomac St., will hold its annual Shrove Tuesday pancake supper Tuesday, March 8, from 4:30 to 7 p.m., in the Fellowship Hall.

The menu includes all-you-can-eat pancakes, serving of sausage, orange juice, apple juice, coffee and tea.

Tickets are available at the door and cost $5 for adults and $3 for those ages 3 to 12. For tickets, call 301-223-7260.

Angel Food ordering set

Angel Food orders will be taken Thursday, March 10, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, March 12, from noon to 1:30 p.m. at Rehoboth United Methodist Church, 30 E. Salisbury St., in the Fellowship Hall.

Walnut Towers residents order Wednesday, March 9, from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Potomac Towers residents order Wednesday, March 9, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Payment is made at the time of ordering. Clothes of Hope schedule

Clothes of Hope Ministries at Williamsport United Methodist Church, 25 E. Church St., provides gently used and some new clothing. It will be open from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday and Saturday; Monday, March 14; and Saturday, March 17. It will be open from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. on Monday and March 21;  and Thursday, March 10.

The Clothes of Hope is not accepting any more clothing donations until April 30.

There is no charge for the clothing. Monetary donations are appreciated. If Washington County schools are closed for inclement weather, the Clothes of Hope will also be closed.
