Junior Basketball League thanks community

The Hagerstown Junior Basketball League would like to thank the community for participating in its raffle. The following are the winners:

First place, $1,000 to Kregg Reynolds of Knoxville, Md.; second place, $500 to Beth Trimble of Hagerstown; third place, $200 to Ron Lancaster of Wolfsburg, Pa.; fourth place, $100 to Judy Jones of Hagerstown; fifth place, $75 to Francine Pauter of Frederick Md.; sixth place, $50 to Maria Cline of Hagerstown; seventh place, $25 to Mike Murray of Hagerstown.

Hagerstown Lioness Club

The Hagerstown Lioness Club will hold its regular meeting Thursday at the Academy Theatre Banquet & Conference Center in downtown Hagerstown. Doors open at 6 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m.

The club will induct four new members. The program will be presented by John Frye, director of the Western Maryland Room at Washington County Free Library. His presentation is titled  “Facts and Myths of Washington County.” Cancellations or additional reservations should be made by today to 301-790-0913.

Discovery Station

Dave Kaplan, “Mr. Butterfly,” presents “The Awakening of the Butterflies” at Discovery Station Saturday at 2 p.m.

Hicks Boosters Club plans basket bingo

The E. Russell Hicks Middle School Band Boosters will hold a basket bingo Sunday, March 20, at the Elks Lodge on Robinwood Drive.

Tickets cost $25, which includes 24 games and lunch. In addition, baskets will be raffled and door prizes and tip jars, including King Tuts, will be available. All winning baskets will be filled.  

Doors open at 11 a.m., lunch will be served at noon and bingo starts at 1 p.m.

Baskets and Bucks Bingo

Western Enterprise fire hall will hold a Baskets and Bucks Bingo Sunday, March 20.

Doors open at 12:30 p.m. and bingo starts at 2 p.m.

There will be 14 basket prizes and 14 cash prizes. In addition, there will be raffles, tip jars, King Tuts and 50/50s available. Food will be available.

Tickets cost $20 in advance or $25 at the door. You must be at least 18 to attend.

The fire hall is at 526 Washington Ave. in Hagerstown.

Class of 1971

South Hagerstown High School’s Class of 1971 will celebrate its 40-year class reunion  Saturday, Oct. 1, at Beaver Creek Country Club.  

Invitations will be mailed out in March.
