MAUGANSVILLE — Each year for the past 20 years, the Maugansville Ruritan Club has sponsored an essay contest for fifth-grade students at Maugansville Elementary School.
This year’s topic was “How Important Are My Constitutional Rights?”
Approximately 125 students submitted written essays.
Student winners, their parents and fifth-grade teachers were guests at the Feb. 16 monthly dinner meeting.
Each of the three winners was asked to present her winning essay to the club members and then received a U.S. savings bond for her winning essay.
- First place — Madeline Miller, winner of a $100 savings bond
- Second place — Ashley Romero, winner of a $75 savings bond
- Third place — Dara Holloman, winner of a $50 savings bond
The Ruritan Club thanks the winners, principal and staff at the school for their cooperation and support of this activity.
