Jane Elizabeth (Clopper) Houser, 89, formerly of St. Paul Street in Boonsboro, Md., passed away peacefully on Sunday, Feb. 27, 2011, at Coffman Nursing Home in Hagerstown.
Born March 1, 1921, in Boonsboro, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Ruth Elizabeth (Itnyre) Clopper.
Her husband, Vernon H. Houser, preceded her in death on March 17, 2007.
Jane was a member of the Boonsboro High School class of 1939.
Mrs. Houser was the librarian at the Boonsboro Library for more than 40 years. She also had worked in the cafeteria at the Boonsboro Middle School.
Jane was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Boonsboro.
She had formerly been a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Boonsboro Fire and Rescue Co. and served as treasurer for many years.
She is survived by her daughter, Sue E. Kershner and her husband, Ronald, of Hagerstown; her son, Kim B. Houser of Baltimore; her sister, June C. Haynes and her husband, Richard, of Rohrersville; and her grandson, Stewart H. Kershner and his wife, Yanina. She is also survived by her great-granddaughter, Isabel C. Kershner; and her great-grandson, Kilian A. Kershner.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. The Rev. Joseph I. Donovan III will officiate. Burial will follow at Boonsboro Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
