JACKSON, Ga. — Betty Jane Leatherman Delauter, 84, of Wesley Drive, Jackson, Ga., died Friday, Feb. 25, 2011.

She was born in Frederick County, Md., Aug. 14, 1926, the daughter of the late Edgar and Edna Brandenburg Leatherman.

She was wife of the late Kenneth Lee Delauter, who died in February 1984.   

Mrs. Jane was a homemaker and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Jackson.

She enjoyed sewing, gardening both vegetables and flowers, cooking and working in her yard. She dearly loved being “Mammaw” to many children that she looked after.

Survivors include her children, Carol Ann and Linwood Schroyer, Sharon and Terry Duffey, and Lois Delauter; grandchildren, Lori and J. B. Wells, Traci and Bob Hanser, Nathan Duffey and Joshua Duffey; great-grandchildren, CoraLynn Wells, Cameron Wells, Madryn Hanser, Jackson Hanser and Mollie Hanser; sisters, Marilyn Gaver, Joyce Harshman, Ester Holshouser; a brother, William Leatherman; and sister-in-law, Gladys Hahn.

Funeral services for Betty Jane Leatherman Delauter will be Monday, Feb. 28, 2011, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home in Jackson. Dr. Joe Bufford will officiate. Entombment will be in the Chapel of Peace Mausoleum in the Jackson City Cemetery.
