The Washington County Solid Waste Advisory Committee announced the Reduce, Reuse, Recycle Award, which is designed to honor individuals, businesses or groups that do the best job of recycling each year.
The awards will be made annually, in April, to coincide with Earth Day.
Deadline for submission is March 15. Submissions may be made by the group or individual that completed the activity, or by another person on behalf of the group or individual that completed the activity.
Submissions will be evaluated based on several criteria listed below. The county said in a release that applications should address each of the criteria, which include:
• Does the accomplishment extend the life of the 40 West Landfill?
• Is the accomplishment an ongoing, sustainable one?
• Does the accomplishment enable the county’s recycling coordinator to obtain more reporting data for the MDE recycling rate and waste-diversion reports?
• Is the accomplishment economically feasible for replication by other individuals, groups or businesses?
