BOONSBORO — Residents of Fahrney-Keedy Home and Village were treated like movie stars, pampered by hairdressers and makeup artists.

They selected their wardrobes and got to bask in their moment in the spotlight.

This was the scene as about 15 residents prepared to pose for portrait-style “Pretty Pictures,” as the event was titled on the activities calendar.

Sharron Smith, activities aide, and Kathy Neville, assistant director of activities at Fahrney-Keedy, came up with the idea.

“Pretty Pictures” was meant as an activity that would not only be fun and make the residents feel special, but also would offer an opportunity for them to give personal gifts to their loved ones.
Several individuals were involved in making this activity a success.

Smith and Neville were the photographers and wardrobe suppliers; Jen Ladner was the makeup artist; and Barbara Harrison and Bethany Adamo transported residents and were wardrobe suppliers.

Cheryl Davis and Alex Harrison volunteered their time, Davis as the hairdresser and Harrison as the touch-up artist, giving each portrait that “star appeal.”

The activity ended with each resident receiving four copies of his or her “best shot.”

The overwhelming gratitude on the faces of the residents and their families turned out to be best gift of all, said Sue Hobbs, activities director.
