MAUGANSVILLE — Bertha Naomi Burkholder, 101, a resident of the Mennonite Home, Maugansville, Md., died at 12:35 p.m. Friday, Feb. 25, 2011, at the home.
Born Dec. 23, 1909, in Letterkenny Township, Franklin County, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Henry S. and Mary G. (Horst) Burkholder.
She did housekeeping work and was a longtime member of Millers Mennonite Church near Leitersburg. She was currently a member of Paradise Mennonite Church, Hagerstown.
Surviving family are one sister, Edith Burkholder, resident of the Mennonite Home of Maugansville; one brother, John Eber Burkholder, Menno Haven, Chambersburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Edgar Burkholder and Norman Burkholder; and two sisters, Ada Strite Martin and Anna Burkholder.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 1, at 10 a.m. at Millers Mennonite Church near Leitersburg, with the Paradise Mennonite Church Ministry officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery. A viewing will be held at Paradise Mennonite Church, Hagerstown, Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and one hour before the service Tuesday at Millers Mennonite Church. The family requests that flowers be omitted. Arrangements were handled by Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Greencastle, Pa.
