Curtis G. Miller, 51, of Hagerstown, Md., went to heaven Feb. 24, 2011, after a long and courageous battle with cancer, at home surrounded by family and friends.

Born July 5, 1959, in Sault Saint Marie, Mich., he was the son of Rosemary Miller of Alpena, Mich.

He was a 1978 graduate of Albert Einstein High School of Kensington, Md.

He is survived by his son, Jason Ambush, of Hagerstown; sisters, Gwyn Brunn of Boyds, Md., Myra Spencer of Libertytown, Md., Dawn Wisz of Smithsburg, Md., Theresa Boring of Waynesboro, Pa., Renee Lindsey of Middletown, Md. and Michelle Vidal of Smithsburg; brothers, David Miller of Hagerstown and Mark Miller of Egg Harbor, N.J.; six brothers-in-law; one sister-in-law; and several nieces, nephews and close friends.

Curtis was a devoted son with deep love for his family. He had a strong love for the outdoors, including a fascination with wolves. He passed his love for wolves to his family, teaching them the value of a wolfpack. Wolves form packs to protect, love and shelter one another for life.

He was an avid reader of American classics and history. Curtis had a great appreciation for music. He was a carpenter by trade and loved woodworking. He loved sports, especially baseball. He enjoyed traveling and discovering the beauty of new places.

Services will be held Sunday, Feb. 27, 2011, at 4 p.m. at J.L. Davis Funeral Home, 12525 Bradbury Ave., Smithsburg, with Pastor Julie Brigham officiating. Burial will be in Long Rapids Cemetery in Long Rapids, Mich., at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home before the service.
