Faith beats buzzer, Broadfording in MDCC

GIRLS BASKETBALL

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — Jackie Solenberger hit two clutch shots down the stretch, including the game-winning jumper with 3 seconds remaining, as Faith Christian edged Broadfording Christian 36-35 Thursday in the first round of the Mason Dixon Christian Conference tournament.

Solenberger’s 3-pointer with a minute left pulled the Falcons (19-5) to within one. She finished with a double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds.

Katie Way added 11 points and Olivia Stoddard had 10 rebounds for the Falcons.

Katie Connolly had 15 points, including three 3-pointers for the Lions (8-19).

Faith Christian plays Grace Academy in a semifinal game today at 3:30 at Grace.

Jess Barnhart scored a game-high 13 points for the Blazers (3-19).

Trey Jessie had nine points and three steals, J.R. Railing had nine points and Jake Bachtell and Tyreek Donaldson had six points and nine rebounds each for the Hubs (14-7).

WARFORDSBURG, Pa. — Ryan Harper had 17 points, nine rebounds and four steals to lead Southern Fulton past Fannett-Metal in a PIAA District 5-A first-round playoff game.

Seth Hall connected on four 3-pointers en route to 16 points and also added five assists and Nathan Keebaugh had 10 points, five rebounds and two steals for the Indians (19-4).

Southern Fulton advances to the semifinals against Berlin Brothersvalley at Bedford High on Tuesday at 7.

Heritage Academy will play No. 5 Shalom Christian at Grace Academy in the semifinals tonight at 8.
