Prom Fashion Show to raise money for Shenandoah Women's Center

February 24, 2011

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — Berkeley County businesses are banding together to help the Shenandoah Women's Center.

Lisa Schweiger, a local event planner, is helping to organize a Prom Fashion Show from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at McFarland House, 409 S. Queen St. in Martinsburg.

The event will feature gowns from The Barn dress shop in Bunker Hill, W.Va., and will offer girls a good chance to see some of the latest fashions for upcoming proms and formals, according to Schweiger.

Personal Reflections Day Spa of Inwood, W.Va., is the primary sponsor of the event, Schweiger said.

Admission is free, but reservations are required because of limited seating at the historic McFarland House. Those interested in attending are asked to call 304-283-6507 or register at personalreflectionsdayspa.com.

Donations will be collected with all proceeds benefiting the Shenandoah Women's Center, a domestic violence and sexual assault crisis, treatment and prevention program that covers Berkeley, Morgan and Jefferson counties in West Virginia.

Schweiger said representatives from the women's center will be on hand to talk to girls about the warning signs of abuse.

"The center is such a great place and does so many great things," Schweiger said. "The (center) really needs our help and so many businesses have come together for this. It's a great effort for a great cause."
