Mall to host story time

Jeff Ridgeway from Washington County Free Library will host story time at Valley Mall Thursday, March 11, from 11 to 11:45 a.m. in front of Kings Jewelry by the Food Court.

Mr. Jeff, as he is known to local children, has been telling stories at the library, preschools and daycare settings in and around Hagerstown for years.

The program will include reading picture books, flannel-board stories, draw stories, music and other activities that children and their caregivers enjoy.

The March program will feature books by Dr. Seuss in honor of the Read Across America celebration in honor of Dr. Seuss's birthday. The program is free and open to all.

Spring concert planned

Williamsport Community Band will perform a spring concert Tuesday, March 1, at 3 p.m. at Springfield Farm in Williamsport.

Blue Band to hold bingo

Williamsport Blue Band Boosters will hold a Longaberger and Vera Bradley bingo event Sunday, March 6, at the Elks Lodge on Robinwood Drive in Hagerstown.

Tickets cost $25 per person and include the meal and 26 games of bingo. Refreshments, raffles and tip jars will be available to purchase. Doors open at 11:30 a.m., dinner will be provided by the Elks Lodge at 12:30 p.m. and bingo begins at 1:30 pm.

Fire company plans basket bingo

Antietam Fire Co. will host a basket bingo Sunday, April 10, at Western Enterprise Fire Hall, 526 Washington Ave. in Hagerstown.

Doors open at 12:30 p.m. and bingo begins at 1:30.

Tickets cost $20 and reservations can be made by contacting Annette in advance at 301-992-6151. There will be plenty of filled baskets, as well as raffles and tip jars. Food will be available.

Class of 1971

The South Hagerstown High School's Class of 1971 will celebrate its 40-year class reunion Saturday, Oct. 1, at Beaver Creek Country Club.

Invitations will be mailed out in March.

The committee is in the process of updating its mailing list. If you know someone from this class who is living out of town, please pass this information on to them. This was a large graduating class and it is a challenge to keep track of everyone.
