Thursdays, March 3, 10, 17 and 24,
7 to 9  p.m. — Beginning Beekeeping: Four weekly sessions at the Ag Heritage Center, plus site visit to a local apiary on Saturday, March 19. The cost is $35. To register and for more information, call 717-263-9226.

Thursday, March 3
— Starting Seeds Indoors: Learn about the methods and equipment used for starting seeds indoors from Master Gardener Ray Eckhart. As part of the workshop, attendees will build and take home a frame made from PVC pipe suitable for supporting a lighting system so you can grow your own at home. The cost of the workshop is $22. It will be held at the Ag Heritage Center from 7 to 9  p.m.  Spaces limited to 20. To register or for more information, call 717-263-9226.

Monday, March 7 — Four State Turf and Ornamental Conference, Science and Tech Building, Penn State Mont Alto Campus, Mont Alto, Pa., 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The cost is $49. For more information, call 717-263-9226.

Thursday, March 10 — Woods in your Backyard, Cumberland County Extension Office, 310 Allen Road, Carlisle, Pa., 7 to 9 p.m. There is no charge for this program. For more information, call 717-263-9226.

March 10 and 24 — Soil fertility, 7 to 9 p.m. at Washington County Extension office, 7303 Sharpsburg Pike. Topics during the two sessions will be soil characteristics, soil composition, soil testing and fertilizer use. The fee for the class is $15, which includes soil testing. Registration and fee are due in advance in order to make arrangements for soil testing and to ensure results from your soil test are available for class.

To reach the Washington County Extension office, drive about seven miles south of Hagerstown from the I-70 exit onto Sharpsburg Pike.
The office is in the Washington County Agricultural Education Center complex.

The Franklin County, Pa., Extension office is at 181 Franklin Farm Lane, Chambersburg.
From Hagerstown, take Interstate 81 north to the U.S. 30 east exit. Take the first road to the left, which is Franklin Farm Lane.

The Jefferson County, W.Va., Extension office is in Suite 3 at 1948 Wiltshire Road, Kearneysville, W.Va. Call 304-728-7413.
