Shrove Tuesday doughnuts

The children's division of Washington Square United Methodist Church will hold its annual doughnut sale on Tuesday, March 8, which is Shrove Tuesday.

Doughnuts cost $2.25 per dozen.

The church is at 538 Washington Ave., next to Western Enterprise Fire Hall.

There is plenty of parking to the rear of the church.

Proceeds go to the children's division for its trip to Manidokan United Methodist Church Camp and other projects.

Church plans installation

St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 601 Washington Ave., Hagerstown, will celebrate the installation of the Revs. G. Stanley Steele and Stephanie Steele on Sunday, Feb. 27, at 3 p.m.

The installation will be performed by the Rev. Eric Norgard, dean of the Washington County Conference of Lutheran Pastors. A light reception will follow the service. All are welcome to attend.

Women's Club plans bargain sale

The Women's Club, 31 S. Prospect St., will hold a spring bargain sale Friday, March 4, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Saturday, March 5, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Items include clothing for men, women, and children, jewelry, books, linens, housewares and miscellaneous items. Upscale decorator items will be for sale in the dining room.

Proceeds will go to preserve and maintain the Women's Club facility, which also assists with housing women in transition.

Parking is available in designated spaces.

 The Senior Center gym is open daily from 9 to 10 a.m. for walking. Free coffee, tea and iced water will be available.

CPR Made Simple

The American Red Cross on Conrad Court is offering a CPR Made Simple course on Saturday, March 5, beginning at 10 a.m. and one at Valley Mall near the Old Navy store on Friday, March 11, at 2 p.m.

The course provides individuals with a one-hour overview of the skills needed to save a life. In this course, lecture is kept to a minimum so participants can focus on hands-on skills. The class is free.

March is Red Cross Month and the local chapter is asking people to join it in helping those in need by donating blood, time or money, or taking a class.

SHHS Rebel Reunion Weekend

 The South Hagerstown High School Alumni Association will host a Rebel Reunion Weekend in June to celebrate 55 years of education at South High.

 On Thursday, June 23, the ninth annual SHHS Benefit Golf Tournament will be held at Beaver Creek Country Club. All proceeds from the golf tournament go to the  scholarship fund, which is used each year to award scholarships to two graduating students.

On Saturday, June 25, there will be a Mega Reunion at Hager Hall, 901 Dual Highway in Hagerstown from 6 to 11 p.m. The cost is $30 per person and includes food and music. The event is open to all South High alumni, administrators, teachers, staff and their guests. Seating is limited, so early registration is encouraged.

Circle of Sisters Celebration

The Circle of Sisters Celebration will be Monday, March 7, at Hager Hall, starting at 6 p.m.

Washington County Business & Professional Women and Commission for Women are co-sponsoring a women's panel in honor of Women's History Month with Linda Irvin-Craig, Carolyn Brooks and Mary King.

Tickets cost $15 before Feb. 28, or $20 at the door.
