Vivian I. Mentzer, 88, of Hagerstown, Md., died Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2011, at Meritus Medical Center, Hagerstown.
Born in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Amos and Ima Myrtle (Nalley) Mentzer.
She was the wife of 65 years to Paul E. Mentzer of Hagerstown, whom she married Jan. 12, 1946.
After graduating from Hagerstown High School in 1941, Vivian went to work for Fairchild Aircraft, where she was a "Rosie the Riveter" from 1941 to 1946. Vivian was also a homemaker.
Vivian was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 88 Ladies Auxiliary.
In addition to her husband, Vivian is survived by her son, Paul E. Mentzer Jr. of Hagerstown; daughters, Danna L. Mentzer and Bonny A. McAlister, both of Hagerstown; and sister, Wilma Myers of Salisbury, Md.; five granddaughters; and eight great- grandchildren.
Vivian was preceded in death by two sisters, Louise Krepps and Evelyn Mentzer.
The funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 18, 2011, at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, Hagerstown. The Rev. Dr. Stephen D. Robison will officiate.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
