Money bonanza

Smithsburg Volunteer Fire Co. will hold a money bonanza Saturday, March 26, at the fire hall, at 22 N. Main St. in Smithsburg.

The doors open at 5 p.m. and the meal will be served at 6.

Tickets cost $30 per couple. No one younger than 18 will be admitted.

The menu includes pit beef, baked beans, macaroni salad, cole slaw, macaroni and cheese, dessert and drinks.

Travelogue series

The Kiwanis Club of Hagerstown continues its 36th season of the travelogue series with a presentation about Burma and Cambodia, titled "Lands of Conflict," on Wednesday, Feb. 23, at 7:30 p.m. in the South Hagerstown High School auditorium.

The presenter will be Buddy Hatton, who will explore Myanmar (formerly Burma), a land of mystery. Beauty and charm define this region, with a heritage that spans more than 2,000 years.

Single admission tickets are sold at the door on show nights. The cost for adults is $10 and $5 for students. For more information and/or tickets, call 301-739-1981.

TOPS 0462

Smithsburg TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) Chapter 0462  welcomed three new members  Sandy, Lisa and Mary.

The chapter had a weight loss of 8 3/4 pounds for the week. Sandy was the thinner winner with a loss of 3 pounds.  

The chapter learned that there are a few state division winners from the chapter.

Awards for winners will be presented at State Recognition Days in Annapolis at the end of March.

The chapter meets Thursdays at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 51 S. Main St. in Smithsburg. Weigh-in starts at 5:30 p.m. and the meeting is at 6 p.m.
